Hike Dahab

Where the desert and sea collide

Blue Lagoon Day Hike (18 kms; moderate)

undefinedFeel like covering some distance? Doing Blue Lagoon as a day hike covers 18kms of spectacular desert scenery in a single day.

Starting at 7:00 am with a taxi to the Blue Hole, we begin our climb over a desert mountain. On our descent you'll see the flat seaside trail to Ras Abu Galum stretch before you. After 45 minutes we will stop for a Bedouin breakfast of aubergine, tahina, salad, fuul and Bedouin bread. For the next hour we'll walk between the Gulf of Aquaba and the Sinai mountains.

On our arrival at Ras Abu Galum we will stop for tea and perhaps a swim on the gorgeous sandy beach. From here we'll head through the Bedouin village towards the Blue Lagoon.

We head through a desert spillway for 1-1.5 hours with a panoramic view of the mountains and sea. We will stop at the Blue Lagoon for lunch (fish, chicken or vegetarian). From here we'll start heading back following the seaside.

**This hike is not offered in June, July or August due to the heat.

Want to do something nice? We'll pass through the Bedouin village of Ras Abu Galum on this hike. If you want to bring children's shoes and clothes (they don't have to be new), any creams and moisturizers, practical shoes or something else that might be practical to a desert environment, it will happily be accepted in the village. It's difficult to obtain these things where they are.
