Hike Dahab

Where the desert and sea collide

Blue Lagoon Overnight Hike

Starting with a taxi to the Blue Hole, we begin our hike with a small climb over a desert mountain. On our descent you'll see the flat seaside trail to Ras Abu Galum stretch before you.

For the next 1.5-2 hours we'll walk between the Gulf of Aquaba and the Sinai mountains. We will enjoy a Bedouin breakfast halfway to the village.

On our arrival at Ras Abu Galum we will stop on the gorgeous sandy beach for swimming, snorkeling, tea and snacks. From here we'll head through the Bedouin village towards Blue Lagoon.

After another hour of walking we reach Blue Lagoon. Here, simple beach huts offer shelter from the sun and wind.  You are welcome to either sleep in your hut or on the beach under the stars.

The evening's dinner is Bedouin-style fish or vegetarian food including fresh Bedouin bread, tahina, salad and potato stew.

After a lazy morning at the lagoon that includes breakfast, we'll start heading back towards Ras Abu Galum to snorkel the spectacular windward reefs. From here we'll head back towards the Blue Hole.

**Note: If you fall in love with Blue Lagoon (as often happens) we can spend extra days there on request. Also, a gorgeous mountain oasis is another three-hour hike (or a short drive and 1.5-hour hike), which can be added as another day. Staying in the Oasis overnight is also an option. Drop me a line in the Contact Me section if you'd like more details on an extended itinerary.

Want to do something nice? We'll pass through the Bedouin village of Ras Abu Galum on this hike. If you want to bring children's toys, shoes and clothes (they don't have to be new), any creams and moisturizers, practical shoes or something else that might be practical to a desert environment, it will happily be accepted in the village. It's difficult to obtain these things where they are.
